ASTRONOMERS

Scheduled Meetings

February 2008

February 16th 2008 - First meeting of the Southern Georgia Astronomers.

Location - Tift Co. Costal Plains Library -

-----------------------------

The Feb. 16 meeting went well and we had an attendance of 11 very nice people interested in Astronomy.  We discussed various telescope designs as well as obtained everyone's opinions on setting up an "official" Astronomy Club.  A date has not been set yet, but we are now planning to hold a 2nd meeting and it may likely be held during the first observing session (date to be determined soon).  At the observing session, we will be available to teach people how to set up their telescopes and hopefully point out a few objects in the sky.

March 2008

March 1st 2008 - 4:00 PM Tifton Coastal Plains Library Headquarters - All are welcome!!!

After the meeting we are planning an observing session at the location of Hines Observatory.  There, we will assist with proper telescope set-up and operations.  Anyone attending the meeting or observing session should bring their telescopes or binoculars.  Some may not own a telescope, so we will have a few available for use.

---------------------------

We were fortunate enough to have clear skies for the March 1 Star Party.  We were able to observe Saturn, Mars, and many of the Messier objects, as well as cover some basic telescope set-up techniques.  I think we all had a great time and hopefully we can schedule another Star Party sometime in April.
