This Web Site is best viewed with a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024.

Comet P/2006 M4 SWAN was discovered on July 12, 2006 by Rob Matson and Michael Mattiazzo in the online SOHO/SWAN image archives.  The comet also passed through the SOHO C3 Imager FOV during the month of August and it was also detected by Rob Matson.  It was also noted that Terry Lovejoy found a "pre-covery" image out of his own personal archives dated June 30, 2006 containing the comet.  When discovered, this object was a Southern Hemisphere object and during the months of September and October, it made it's way into the Northern Hemisphere.
