The AART Program is an initiative of Steve E. Farmer Jr., owner and director of the Red Barn Observatory. The main objective of the project is to make massive discoveries, observation, analysis and reporting of Asteroids and Comets, and to motivate the amateur astronomer community to begin and organize similar enterprises. |

With the current advanced technologies, high-precision equipment, and computers becoming more affordable and available to the amateur scientist, this allows them to experiment and produce the same results as a professional. |

The Advanced Amateur Research Team was created to gather a “worldwide” group of dedicated, advanced amateur astronomers and allow them to combine their talents and knowledge to produce professional work. Since the program is “Internet based”, this allows a broader range of members to be chosen to participate in our projects and research. Working as a team, we are capable of producing hundreds of hours of work in a short period of time, therefore greatly benefiting the astronomical community. |

Team members decide on the projects to perform and images are collected from observatory H68. All images and data pertaining to the images are uploaded to a member’s only area within the AART Web site. From there, team members download the images and data, and perform the desired work needed. Most work done by the AART is considered “official” research and is fully documented within the Web site. Although most research done by the AART pertains to Astronomy other science related projects may arise in the future. |
