Observations
This page contains nightly observations performed at the Red Barn Observatory and will also contain observations that were obtained by utilizing the equipment at the Tzec Maun Foundations Observatories. In this field, it is almost necessary to document all observations whether they are photographic or visual. As Amateur Astronomers, our data is often as valuable as the data Professional Astronomers produce. I encourage you to document your observations "somewhere" so that they can be used for reference in the future or shared with other Astronomers.
October 10, 2010 - Since the observatory has been remodeled, I have spent the past few weeks working on Polar Alignment. As of last night (and around 5 AM this morning), I have the LX200 very close to being Polar aligned. I also started a TPoint Model to try and "work out" some of the slack in the LX200 gear system. As of now, I have 29 points mapped and I can tell a difference in the go-to's. Once I'm able to map 100 points or so, the telescope should be fairly accurate and work can continue as it did in the past.C/2009 G1 (STEREO)
